Castor Oil for Beard Growth: The Honest Guide
Share
Search 'beard growth' and castor oil tops every list. Time for the honest version — what it can do, what it can't, and how to use it properly.
The realistic truth
Castor oil won't rewrite your genetics or fill in patches where follicles don't exist. What it does well: condition the hairs you have, reduce breakage and split ends, soften coarse beard hair, and moisturise the skin underneath so the beard looks fuller and healthier. For many men, that's the difference between a scraggly beard and a good-looking one.
How to use it
- Warm a few drops of castor oil between your palms (mix with a lighter oil if you find it heavy).
- Massage into the beard and the skin beneath, against and then with the grain.
- Comb through. Use 3–4 nights a week, or a small amount as a daytime conditioner.
Don't forget the skin
Healthy beard, healthy skin underneath. The massage helps circulation and keeps the skin from getting dry and flaky (the cause of 'beardruff').
Give it a fair 6–8 weeks. Our Asuka Organic Castor Oil is cold-pressed, hexane-free and clean enough for daily use. Shop castor oil →
