How I Use Saffron as a Daily Wellness Ritual (and Why You Might Want To)

Why it is important?

Saffron, Safran, Kesar it goes by many names across many cultures. It has been used in traditional cooking and wellness rituals for thousands of years. A spice so valuable it is literally more expensive than GOLD. However the magic of saffron lies in what it is.

Saffron is very difficult to grow, The saffron plant produces 2-3 strands per flower and the plants don't just grow anywhere, however this miracle spice is much more than this. It can be a gateway to leading a healthy ritual routine.

Why I use Saffron as"Ritual"?

I use Saffron in my daily life : Make Saffron tea, mix it with turmeric and honey to apply on my skin, decant it in oil to use as body lotion or just simply add it to my food. However, every use of saffron in my life is treated as a ritual.

I believe, it is an important part of my daily routine that gives me 5-10 mins of quite time everyday to get my thoughts together, understand my own day and purpose while sipping on some warm tasty saffron tea. The process of handling the delicate saffron stigma, carefully adding the water and just watching it steep while I can think of all the things that are beautiful in my life. This is my Ritual.

What Are the Benefits of Saffron in Wellness?

Saffron isn’t just a pretty ingredient — it has centuries of traditional use behind it, and modern science is starting to catch up.

  • Mood Support: Studies suggest saffron may naturally boost serotonin, helping with low moods or emotional swings.

  • PMS & Hormonal Balance: Many women use it for monthly cycle support and overall mood stability.

  • Antioxidant Power: Rich in crocin and safranal, saffron can help combat oxidative stress — the stuff that wears your body down daily.

  • Gut + Skin Glow: People often say they feel less bloated, more “light,” and even notice a glow in their skin.

  • Inner Calm: For me, just brewing it slowly has become a moment of stillness in the noise.

How I Personally Use It (And How You Can Too)

My ritual is simple:
Every morning or mid-afternoon, I drop 2–3 strands into hot water and let it steep. That’s it.
Sometimes I sip it plain. Sometimes I add a slice of orange peel or a touch of honey.

You can also:

  • Add it to warm milk before bed

  • Stir it into overnight oats or smoothies

  • Use the infused water as a beauty tonic base

The key isn’t what you mix it with. It’s what it means to you. That pause. That intentional moment.

Why Ritual > Routine

Wellness isn’t about doing 20 things perfectly.
It’s about doing one thing with meaning.

This tiny jar of saffron became my reminder: to breathe slower, to drink something warm, to treat myself like someone worth caring for — even on the messy days.

If you're looking to bring a small, meaningful ritual into your day — I hope this gave you a starting point.
